Vision & Mission

Not debate, negotiation.

It begins with a podium, a placard and an agenda item; what we really learn is to listen, to persuade and to reach agreement. The world is written by the shared mind of those who sit at the table.

Vision

To be a summit that debates the issues shaping the world's future under one roof.

AKINDS goes beyond classic youth conferences, bringing multidimensional topics together, from politics to sport and from history to public health. It aims to create a youth experience that sees meeting people from different cultures as a unifying and enriching value, and that leaves a positive mark on society.

Mission

To bring students from Istanbul's different high schools together around the negotiating table.

We support participants in using a foreign language actively, in developing their decision-making and public speaking skills, and in reaching the maturity to join, and even lead, national and international boards. As the English Club of Şehit Akın Sertçelik Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, we work to offer our students this experience in the best possible conditions.

Multidisciplinary

Six different fields, from international law to sports diplomacy, from public health to regional integration.

Bilingual committees

Five English committees and one Turkish committee; real practice in using a foreign language actively.

Historical crisis

A committee that works with live developments and crisis directives on the 1948 Palestine War.

Growth-focused

Public speaking, decision-making and negotiation skills; participation certificates and best delegate awards in every committee.

Committees

Six committees, six worlds.

Five English committees and the Organization of Turkic States, conducted in Turkish; every committee has 15 delegates and 4 officers (chair, deputy chair, academic assistant and field officer). Click a committee to read more about it.

ICDS
International Committee on Decolonization and Sovereignty

Field: International Law and Politics

Independence processes of non-self-governing territories, border disputes left behind by colonialism, and the right to self-determination.

TraditionalEnglish
Committee guide

About the committee

The International Committee on Decolonization and Sovereignty debates, on the ground of international law, the independence processes of non-self-governing territories, the complex border disputes left behind by the colonial legacy, and peoples' right to self-determination. Delegates will produce solutions to neo-colonial policies, assimilation efforts, minority rights and the economic domination of former colonies by global powers. The committee requires a delicate diplomatic balance between repairing historical injustices and not igniting new geopolitical crises.

GEC 1948
Global Emergency Cabinet: The 1948 Palestine War

Field: International Security and Historical Crisis Management

Instant reaction to the war that broke out after the end of the British Mandate; steering military, economic and humanitarian strategies through crisis directives.

Historical CrisisEnglish
Committee guide

About the committee

A high-tension historical crisis simulation focused on the outbreak of the first major war that deeply shook the Middle East after the end of the British Mandate in 1948. Following the United Nations partition plan, delegates must react instantly to the armed clashes between local militias and the neighboring states drawn into the war, in the power vacuum that emerged in the region. Throughout the sessions, sudden border violations, huge refugee flows caused by the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians, arms embargoes, the cutting of critical logistics lines and secret regional alliances will arrive as urgent agenda items. While facing the pressure to secure international peace and set up a ceasefire table, delegates will also issue crisis directives that directly affect the field, steering military, economic and humanitarian strategies and rewriting the course of history.

OIC
Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Council on Islamic Law and Governance (OIC-CJ) · Field: Islamic Law, Global Politics and Sociological Reform

Integrating traditional Islamic law with modern international legal norms; religion-state relations, minority rights and Islamic finance models.

Judicial & Political LawEnglish
Committee guide

About the committee

A special judicial and political law body, this council addresses the most complex and sensitive issues of the Islamic world from a theoretical and legal perspective. Delegates will discuss in depth how centuries-old traditional Islamic law (Sharia) principles can be integrated with modern international legal norms (human rights, constitutional systems). The limits of religion-state relations, modern legal reforms to be implemented in the Islamic geography, minority rights in Muslim-majority countries, and Islamic finance models compatible with the global system will form the main agenda. In this committee, which can also work like an "ijtihad" (legal interpretation) board rather than a classical diplomatic table, delegates must strike a very delicate diplomatic and legal balance between preserving faith-based ancient values and responding to contemporary global expectations (gender equality, combating extremism, universal human rights).

FIFA/UEFA
Council on Sports Governance and Diplomacy

FIFA & UEFA · Field: Sports Diplomacy

Sport as a soft power and propaganda tool: mega-tournament lobbying, sportswashing, Financial Fair Play and racism on the pitch.

Special ThemeEnglish
Committee guide

About the committee

An innovative committee that starts from the fact that sport is not played only on the pitch but is also a huge "soft power" and propaganda tool. Delegates steering European and world football will address the heavy lobbying in mega-tournament hosting processes, countries' "sportswashing" (image laundering through sport) moves, and the Financial Fair Play (FFP) crises that deepen the gap between clubs. Binding rules will also be set against global crises such as racism in the stands, political protests and the growing politicization of sport.

GHA
Global Health Assembly

Field: Humanitarian Aid

Drug patents, bioterrorism threats, global early-warning systems and the opening of humanitarian aid corridors to war zones.

Standard ExpertiseEnglish
Committee guide

About the committee

A strategic assembly that works on the decision-making logic of the World Health Organization (WHO) and steers humanity's struggles for survival. Delegates will manage crises that have not only medical but also heavy political and economic consequences. Drug patents (the conflict between "Big Pharma" and developing countries), bioterrorism threats, global early-warning systems against new cross-border pathogens, and the opening of humanitarian aid corridors to war zones with collapsed health infrastructure are the committee's main areas of work.

OTS
Organization of Turkic States

Türk Devletleri Teşkilatı (TDT) · Field: Regional Integration and International Relations

Security of the Middle Corridor, energy supply lines, customs union steps and joint security mechanisms against regional crises.

RegionalTurkish
Committee guide

About the committee

A strategic committee aiming at the comprehensive integration of the Turkic world, a rising center of power in Eurasian geopolitics. Delegates will work to turn shared historical and cultural ties into concrete political and economic alliances. Critical topics such as the security of the "Middle Corridor", the new lifeline of global trade, the management of energy supply lines, customs union steps, and the building of joint security mechanisms against regional crises will form the main agenda of this committee, located right in the middle of East-West polarization.

Committee guides are a general framework prepared for delegate preparation; final agendas will be announced by the Academic Board.
